Rangers Overcome 3-1 Deficit, Win Series
On Wednesday night, a game Seven was played at Madison Square Garden for a berth to the Eastern Conference Finals on the line. The New York Rangers, coming all the way back from a 3-1 series deficit, pulled out an OT win against the Washington Capitals.
Going into the game, Captain and star player of the Capitals Alex Ovechkin stated “We’re going to come back and win the series”. Ovechkin did his part, scoring the games first goal in the first period and giving his team all the momentum. Yet in the second period with 6:22 left, the Rangers took advantage on the power play. J.T. Miller found a wide open Kevin Hayes cutting towards the net back door, tieing the game at one apiece. The third period remained scoreless, but Rangers defenseman Dan Boyle left the game with an apparent concussion after taking a major blow from Capitals’ defenseman Brooks Orpik. New York head coach Alain Vigneault hopes to know more about the injury on Friday. The first ten minutes of the overtime period were thrilling, with each team getting chance after chance. Finally, with 11:24 into overtime Derek Stepan scored the game winning goal top shelf. Stepan was quick to move on to the next game, knowing their work is far from over: "We enjoy this moment and we get ourselves ready for the Eastern Conference Finals,We still have a lot of work to do." The whole crowd went into a frenzy, and the entire team jumped with joy while gathering around the game’s hero. This marks three of the past four season that Washington has been eliminated by the Ranger’s. And for the Rangers, they now have their part in history: The first team to win a series after being down 3-1 in consecutive seasons. Rangers goalie Henrik Lunqvist credits this to taking it a game at a time, “ It starts with confidence and that you can do it and take one game at a time and we did a great job." Both goalies played outstanding, with Lundqvist recording 36 saves and Braden Holtby stopping 39.
Up next, the Rangers will face the Tampa Bay Lightning, a team they were 0-3-1 against in the regular season.

It's very ironic how Ovechkin garunteed a win from the Capitals.
